Posted on Feb 14, 2012 (Last edited on Feb 14, 2012) Water is produced in a Well but can only be extracted there at Quality 0, regardless of any other factors. To improve the quality of water you need to filter it. For this you need a Beverage Factory to filter it (for an added cost) and a Beverage R&D to research it.Electricity is produced at a Power Plant and uses either coal or natural gas. For part of this guide I will be referring to electricity as either Coal Electricity (or CE) or Natural Gas Electricity (NE). CE is easier to supply but ends up being slightly more expensive with NE being harder to supply but being slightly more cheaper. Natural Gas is obtained from a Well meaning if you produce water yourself you already have the factory, while coal is mined from a Mine. Both require a Prospectors to research however you only need Research: 1 as neither of them impact electricity Quality (and to note electricity never has nor needs Quality) COSTS CE costs $0.08405 a unit to produce assuming you produce your own water NE costs $0.07752 a unit to produce assuming you produce your own water Water using CE costs $0.05841 a unit to produce Water using NE costs $0.05775 a unit to produce To Improve Water using CE costs $0.04420 a unit to produce To Improve Water using NE costs $0.04388 a unit to produce TIME Both CE, NE and Water takes 0.1 seconds to produce. To find out how much your Power Plant or Well will produce an hour then divide the size of your factory by 10 and multiply it by 36000. (so a 10m2 Power Plant will produce 36000 units of electricity an hour, a 20m2 72000 units of electricity an hour etc...) OTHER FACTORS Now to have a Power Plant run constantly you need to provide it with raw materials. To power a 100m2 Power Plant for an hour with natural gas you need 7200 natural gas. This requires a 100m2 Well producing Natural Gas constantly. If you also want the Well to produce water you would need a bigger well. To power a 100m2 Power Plant for an hour with coal you need 720 coal. This requires a 80m2 Mine producing Coal constantly. FILTERING You can filter water several times, however its effectiveness drops each time. Filtering water takes the same time as producing it so you will need a Beverage Factory the same size as your Well (assuming you don't use the Well for other things) The following list shows how to get a certain quality of water from Quality 0 water. Make sure you select the right water to filter as it defaults to the highest Quality water you possess. The required Water research is in brackets. - 1 (2) - 2 (3) - 3 (5) - 4 (6) - 5 (8) - 6 (9) - 7 (10) - 8 (12) - 9 (13) - 10 (15) - 11 (16) - 12 (18) - 13 (19) - 14 (20) - 15 (22) - 16 (23) - 17 (25) - 18 (26) - 19 (28) - 20 (29) - 21 (30) - 22 (32) - 23 (33) - 24 (35) - 25 (36) - 26 (38) - 27 (39) - 28 (40) - 29 (42) - 30 (43) - 31 (45) - 32 (46) - 33 (48) - 34 (49) - 35 (50) |

Posted on Feb 14, 2012 (Last edited on Feb 14, 2012) Thanks for writing the guide Walter! But I apologize that I only just finished updating the costs and time costs in the past few minutes, so you may need to double check the numbers.Things should be fairly balanced now (although they make less sense logically). |

Posted on Feb 14, 2012 I have adjusted the costs accordingly, they should now be correct :)
