Here is an idea: make another tab called corporate offices. The tab has several slots where corporate offices can be constructed. Each different building increases (or decreases) a stat by 1% be it production time, sell volume or quality produced for all items in that category per level but is extremely expensive and time consuming to make. Quick examples: "Gem-cutter's Guild" increases all jewelry quality produced by 1%/level and building costs 100mil/level. "International Jewelry Exchange" increases the rate of sale of all jewelry by 1%/level and building costs 100mil/level. Just an idea. Would be interesting to have mega-projects to invest in.

Interesting idea indeed, and I'm thinking about a trade guild system with world average tech... but I don't want to over-promise and under-deliver, so let's keep that under the cover for now.
