Quests

I ask because I notice the quests are different on different companies I run, so I'm guessing there is some sort of program under what I see that tells the computer what kind of quests to suggest for a given type of company. thanks

Increase your company's networth level (not current networth) and you will see supply quests/building size/b2b and sales revenue quests increase their requirements from then on. Research quests are special - they just pick a random product that the company ever produced and ask to research to next level - happens even if you sold the R&D long ago. I have seen research quests ask to research from 121 -> 122 and paid several billion to do so.
