The NPC's are chipping away at it, but haven't put a big dent in it yet. At 1.00 each, salt of that quality should do nicely indeed in a store.

I've diversified into coal as well as salt and will be selling salt at 86 QL at 1.50 per unit (and making about 1/4 what I used to). The coal is still wandering around price-wise seeing what sells and what doesn't.
